Above, a Brittany does a nice job of honoring the Shorthairs point. Correct whoa breaking results in stylish dogs whether on point or honoring.

Pictured at Right: The youngster now has advanced nicely to the
field. Having been properly whoa broke, we have a bold, stylish
and confident pointing dog.
For obedience control, both at home and in the field your dog will be taught to come when called, come to the whistle, turn to
the whistle (which controls range and is used for quartering) and taught to heel. All of these are essential for a close working,
under control hunting companion. Conditioned retrieve training is also available for those hunters who require an absolute
delivery to hand.

The properly finished pointing dog is obedient, hunts in range, comes when
called, retrieves to hand, holds point and honors another dogs point. There are
three main ingredients to produce this type of dog. Proper whoa breaking, both
verbal and whistle obedience training and the conditioned retrieve.

while under complete control of the handler using the whoa command.
